A Very Brief Account of a Colorful Life

A big box of new crayons!! The colors!!  The wonderful smell!! The best gift as a child!!

At the age of eight I won my first art award. Then it was like receiving crayons again when I purchased my first set of oil paints with graduation money. Later, I was introduced to pastels, which, like crayons, are vibrant and sensuous with color—immediate, brilliant, and very suited to my way of working.

When asked how long it takes me to complete a painting, I smilingly answer “a lifetime.” From birth to the date I sign a particular painting, all of my experiences and learning affect my work. But, rather than giving the data of birth, education, and jobs held or presenting my formal CV listing the many group and solo exhibitions, awards, etc., I simply invite you to view my paintings—they are my real credentials. I haven’t changed much through all the years from the child mentioned above to the present—I have been “coloring” my way through life—ever the kid with a new box of "crayons"!
